This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Ester Broug argues for more transparency in the food chain, in order to allow consumers to make better informed decisions. To be able to tell consumers the true story behind our food, Ester has instigated an innovative initiative that she will share at TEDxVenlo. Her talk will cover how food scandals bring the countryside closer. How the consumer is willing to pay a little more for ‘honest’ food. How realistic pricing is achieved for both the grower as well as the retailer.Ester Broug is a down-to-earth lady from South Holland who wishes to know the story behind her meal.About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
